As some of you may know, there aren’t that many games on Desktop that support local multiplayer. And despite supporting multiple controllers on one console, that doesn’t seem to be the case for consoles either. Some of my favorite and earliest gaming memories came from playing games like Agent Under Fire, Everything or Nothing and Rock Band with friends and family. Watching their reactions and getting bullied by my older brothers for not being as good as them at the age of 6.
Well now I have figured out how to leverage Unity’s new Input System to allow two players (currently one with Keyboard + Mouse, the other with a gamepad) to control their own character! Improvements would include allowing a solo player to switch from KB/M to gamepad and vice versa as well as allowing a new player to join a solo session either locally or via a network connection.
