Aragon: Hell’s Asylum takes inspiration from Metroid Prime, the original Mass Effect trilogy and Resident Evil 4. This project challenged me to experiment without the help of the documentation and try new things. I showcased the game at the Student Game Expo while at Full Sail. In 2018, I exhibited the game at OrlandoiX.
What I’ve accomplished:
1.
Implemented and customized an open source camera system to better fit what I originally envisioned.
2.
Learned the basics of level scripting and data persistence. Created basic game save data system.
3.
Platform scalability. Being able to move from an older laptop with a low end dGPU to a gaming desktop with state of the art hardware while keeping the visuals consistent is a tall order. Grappling with it now taught me why it’s important to set a standard early on and change it as needs expand or shrink.
